I can hardly believe we are halfway through January now! The time seems to be flying by. If you follow along over on Instagram (@houseofhire) you know I started Invisalign last year and partnered with Dr. Lawen over at Lawen Dentistry. They are located in downtown Halifax. Also incase you don’t know, Invisalign is braces through clear aligners that you switch out weekly and they gradually shift your teeth/bite. Pretty cool right?!
My thoughts so far.
It’s funny you know, growing up I never thought there was anything wrong with my teeth. They were always pretty straight and that was that. However, fast forward to my 30’s and I started to notice a lot of shifting with my teeth. The wear on the bottom from a misaligned bite was causing many of my lower teeth to chip. A friend of mine had gone the Invisalign root and had amazing results- I started to look into it. Looking back now I’m so glad I took that chance and put self-care for myself first. I have been loving my results so far.

Halfway there.
I am over halfway through my treatment plan which is wild. I have to say, the whole experience has been much easier/faster than I ever imagined! First off, as you can see the Invisalign trays are so subtle when you are wearing them. That is one of my favourite things about Invisalign. Unless you are really looking at someone’s mouth and teeth, you don’t notice them. It definitely took me a little bit to get used to having the trays in my mouth. I was impressed with how quickly my speech adjusted. (Just don’t ask me to say someone said it’s sunny 3 times fast haha).
I started changing my trays at night so by the time I wake up in the morning there is no discomfort from the tightness of a new tray at all as I slept through it and I am just good to go!
My tips.
Switching out the trays weekly becomes part of your everyday habit. Sometimes I lose track of what tray I am even on in my treatment as the process just start’s to feel so natural. I can’t believe how much my teeth have moved. It’s like one day you look in the mirror and can’t believe the difference. I have found that the day I change my trays my jaw will be a bit tender. However that fades by the end of the day and is the only discomfort I have felt. I started changing my trays at night which has been perfect. By the time I wake up in the morning there is no discomfort from the tightness of a new tray at all as I slept through it!
This tray whitening product is one of the best things when you have Invisalign, it gently whitens your teeth over time and it totally freshens up and cleans your trays. I love using it at home but it is great for on the go too. You also get this great portable tray case so you can safely store your trays when eating and I love how sleek and subtle it is.

Essentials.
These little pink and blue rubber triangles are called “munchies”. After you put your trays in you bite on these and it just ensures your trays are in nice and tight. It almost get’s a little addicting and I have munchies all over the house to remind me to do it frequently throughout the day. You can also fit your munchie into your case with your trays for on the go which is great.
