Our laundry closet is a small one but that doesn’t mean it has to lack style or function! Today we are going to chat about how to make a small laundry closet functional and what I think is important to have. I am also going to share a few different ideas for how to style your small laundry space and items I like to add. Also if you want to check out my post when I originally shared the reveal of this area you can click here.
So what should you have in a small laundry closet?
First off, storage is always important, having a shelf to hold baskets is pretty essential in my opinion. It allows you to easily conceal those not so cute cleaning and laundry products yet keeps them within arms reach. One thing I love adding in and swapping out is little decor details. It helps our laundry closet feel more like us and brings in some personality.
Having a great laundry basket makes life easier and I always have this one on the washer for clean clothes. You can find all kinds of similar styles but I love how open this rattan one from ikea is. Something about a pretty basket just helps! Another laundry area essential to me is a pretty rug underfoot. I feel like this really elevates your space and makes it cozy under foot. Basically anything to help make doing laundry more enticing right-ha!
Of course a great washer and dryer is crucial. We love this Samsung set and I am so happy with how light and bright it makes this closet feel. I think going with lighter appliances in a small space like this really helps it feel spacious! Something I would still like to add to this space is a countertop for folding and a compact wall drying rack- I’m on the hunt!
“In a small space like this you can have a bit more fun with pattern and take some risks”
I used some pretty wall decals in this space because they were super easy to install and I loved this watercolour botanical print. In a small space like this you can have a bit more fun with pattern and take some risks. It’s not an area that you are spending all day in (well hopefully not, even though it may feel that way ha). I always love to pop a little greenery into this space as well because let’s be honest- I can’t not. It’s one of my favourite things to decorate with and brings such great texture into any space!
Kind thoughts,
Lauren Elizabeth
