Well this was definitely a project that took longer then I was anticipating- like a good 3 months longer, ha! But you know what? That’s not a bad thing. It gave me lot’s of time to feel confident in my choices and I have to say I am loving the finished result!! This en-suite bathroom is a long, narrow layout and I just wanted it to feel light, bright and serene. Updating this space was done on a low budget and it always amazing me what paint, and updating some fixed finishes can do to a room.
Down the road I would love to update the floor tile and the master shower/tub situation but hey I am loving how it looks now and it feels like a happy little bathroom that is much prettier then where it started. We began with giving this bathroom a fresh coat of paint, I went with the same colour I used in the basement, Sico’s “Delicate White”, such a great soft white colour that leans a touch warm. Next my husband and his friend installed this subway tile backsplash and you guys, I grouted it myself! It was my first time attempting grouting and I have to say I am really proud, is it perfect? Heck to the no. But I think it looks great and it’s a project that we did ourselves which feels good!
The subway tile and grout are both from Kent Building Suppliesalong with our new sink and faucets!! You guys, these faucets completely stole my heart when I saw them. So much so that we had to change our sinks to make it work but if you ask me it was completely worth it!! (Husband may say differently lol). The new faucets are byDelta and are the Trincic, we special ordered them from our local Kent and they arrived pretty quickly. I really wanted a faucet that would make more of a statement and these definitely do that with their high arch and just down right dreamy shape. The new sinks are slightly larger too which is an added bonus.
I wanted to mix matte black and brass throughout the space and when doing that I focus on creating layers and keeping similar metal tones at each visual plain so that everything flows. I love these brass lights from Kichler, they have this great modern shape with the white globe shade and they match the faucets perfectly. I didn’t want to do too much brass by adding a brass mirror as I really wanted the faucet and lights to be the stars of the show so I opted for this frameless mirror and to add a touch of black to tie it in with the towel hooks and cabinet hardware I spray painted the small square mounting plates matte black and I am just obsessed with the end result! It’s the perfect little detail they needed.
I love me some good bathroom linens so these Loomia bath towels are a must and look so stunning hanging in there. I also love House of Jude linens and these grey hand towels by our sinks are so pretty, the elongated fringe is such a fun added detail. Simple towel hooks with some art above them and a hanging plant conclude this space and I can’t believe the transformation!!
Kind thoughts,
Lauren Elizabeth
