Alright friends so today is a big day! I am so excited to finally share with you part one of a three part series revealing the project I have been working on with the lovely Lesley over at blarejune.com. The design is also featured on the Glitter Guide website today which is so exciting and is such an honour. I will be sharing all the details on the entryway, dining space and kitchen tomorrow so make sure you check back along with the bedroom on Thursday!
I have spoke about Lesley on the blog before when she asked me to be featured on her blog under the “Real Women” section. After getting together for a chat where we spoke about a lot of different things, she asked me if I would like to design her new apartment for her. Of course I jumped at the chance and I have to say that working with Lesley was a lovely experience, she was open to everything and we really had a lot of fun working on this space together.
So today I am going to be sharing the living room and office space. We started with a blank slate with only keeping the leather ottoman and the small white side table that used to function as a nightstand in the bedroom. Lesley’s style is very California/ Boho/Eclectic so I knew I really wanted her space to reflect that. The apartment is fully open concept so right away I knew I wanted to create functional sections that would help break it up and serve different purposes.
The living room is such a cozy and inviting space while still being minimal and fresh. I wanted to bring in lots of texture where we kept everything pretty monochromatic but with hits of pastels. As soon as I saw this sofa I knew it would be perfect with it’s clean lines, light tufting and fabric. It works perfectly with the structured chairs. You all know I love Janine over atTonic Living and I knew I wanted to incorporate her pillows in the design. This soft blush pink worked so perfectly with our colour palette and brings such a softness to the room.
Because you see the living space as soon as you walk into the apartment I knew I wanted to divide it with some furniture to help section it off and make it feel more cozy. These chairs are just perfect because they are just as beautiful from the back as they are from the front which was important as you see them from the back first.
I knew I wanted to have fun with Lesley’s office space with some shelves for displaying pretty, personal items to make it an inspiring place to work. Because the office area is in the open and essentially in the middle of the layout it was important for it to flow with the rest of the room. Styling everything up was a lot of fun and I feel like it turned out perfect and really feels like “her”.
Check back tomorrow for all the details on the entryway, dining space and kitchen!
